Traditional car washes are very abrasive to paint. The materials used on the machinery do not lift dirt like a high quality wash mitt, instead they just put the dirt off the paint, leading to micro scratches.

The soap and products are not high quality since they use a lot of it. The soaps do the bare minimum of getting the dirt off the paint but offer very little lubrication during the process, also resulting in scratches.

A normal car wash is usually completed in no more than 5 - 10 min. A hand wash done with quality products and materials usually takes about 1 hour. The reason lies in the process. Instead of grabbing a mop and just brushing over the car as fast as possible we take our time ensuring every panel and crevice is not only cleaned, but also handled with care.

Detailing on the other hand is more of a 2 step process. You must clean the surface properly first, then add a layer of protection. That goes for paint, Interior vinyl, seats, carpet, windows, & wheels. Basically everything! Now protection of any surface is of course optional, and while it is not a necessary step it is definitely a wise one.

Now let's get into the details of the wash process, no pun intended. Our exterior wash process is simple. We use a 3 bucket method: one for the wheels, one to rinse the wash mitt, and one for the clean soap that touches the paint. The vehicle is prepped with high pressure water to remove any excess dirt and debris. Degreaser or all purpose cleaner may be added for extremely dirty vehicles or stubborn areas. Then a pre soak wash is done with a foam cannon to allow any excess dirt to get captured and drip down before the wash mitt is touched onto the paint. After scrubbing with the mitt is completed the vehicle is rinsed again with high pressure water and dried with a blower as well as a plush microfiber towel. After the wash, all windows are cleaned streak free, tire shine is added, as well as a paint protection.

Our interior process starts off with using an air blowout tool to blow dust and dirt out of cracks and crevices, carpets, and seats. We then vacuum any remaining dirt and dust off of the carpets and seats. Floor mats are also removed and cleaned if necessary, and all interior surfaces are given a thorough wipe down for any remaining dust. This process will vary depending on which level of service is being performed as well as how dirty the vehicle is.

Now it is one thing to wash and protect your vehicle, but it is a whole other to do it properly. Most people don't know this, but most paint surfaces are usually not smooth resulting in extra steps to be taken before adding any kind of protection.

A lot of vehicles that have never had a wax or sealant probably have a massive layer of contaminants that must be removed before any type of protection is added. This process is usually done by a clay bar or iron decontamination spray, or sometimes both. Removing contaminants is necessary in order to allow the protection to adhere to the paint properly and not just come right off after a few days.

The paint must be smooth for any wax, sealant, or ceramic to work properly and give the absolute best result. Whichever level of protection is performed it needs to be done properly to last the absolute longest, but also ensure the vehicle is not damaged during this critical step in the process.
